This movie shows what many ponder, of how a simple act could affect one's entire life. In this case, we get to see the parallel lives that Helen Quilley (Gwyneth Paltrow) could have based on whether she catches a train. In the life where she catches the train, she meets an attractive passenger and comes home to find her boyfriend cheating on her. In the alternate life where Helen misses it, she comes home later and has no idea about the affair going on behind her back.
